Childhood
Denise Pearson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. When she was little, Denise and her parents emigrated to New Zealand. They returned to the North East to live next to her Grandma, who had been a tailoress and taught Denise to be patient with her needlework.
School years
Denise's favourite subjects were art & needlework at school. Awarded needlewoman of the year aged 15, she went on to Sunderland Polytechnic & completed her Art Foundation. From there, Denise studied leather goods design & manufacture at the prestigious Cordwainers College, London & was the first of her peers to receive the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Gold Medal.
